COVID-19; safety, hygiene and protocols

Even though a stay at Rancho Burica is one in seclusion and far away from the rest of the world, the community we're part of and ourselves are not secluded enough to escape the impact and influence of COVID-19. As such, we have compiled essential traveller information to share with you, so that you can embark on your journey prepared. Also, we've adopted measures to ensure that you'll feel comfortable during your stay with us.

At Rancho Burica

Enjoy long-stay in our secluded bubble

Especially when you're travelling during COVID, it might be nice to find a bubble where you can stay for a longer period of time. We get that! This is why we’re placing a larger emphasis on facilitating long-term stays. That way you can enjoy the seclusion of our jungle hideaway at the Southern Costa Rica coast and travel safely. Contact us for our long-stay offers!

Equipped outdoor kitchen

For those who prefer not to have dinner in our restaurant, we provide an equipped outdoor kitchen. Here, you’ll find everything you need to prepare your own food outside in our garden. Throughout the garden we have tables to enjoy your dinner. This way, if you like to maintain distance, that’s an option.

Additional cleaning and hygiene protocols

Our communal areas, such as our restaurant, is cleaned throughout the day. We also make sure our cabins are cleaned regularly. In addition, we make provide all of our bathroom facilities with soap, clean towels and disinfectant gel.

In Punta Banco and Pavones

Use of facemasks

In the whole of Costa Rica, including the Punta Banco and Pavones area, COVID-19 protocols and regulations are more or less the same. They include amongst others that face masks are required in stores, restaurants and transportation. Make sure to bring enough!

Kits for self-testing

Because self-testing kits are sparse in the area of Punta Banco and Pavones, we recommend you bring some of your own if you’d like to travel on the safe side.

PCR and Antigen tests upon leaving the country

In case you need to provide a negative test result in your travel documents when you’re leaving Costa Rica, we can refer you to the official testing facility close to San Jose Airport.

Their available tests are antigen (results in an hour) for $65, PCR (results next day) for 99$, or PCR (results in three hours) for $240. You can make an appointment online at https://covid.morphotr.com/ and test results are sent to you by mail.

Upon arriving at San Jose Airport you’re guided to where a free shuttle will take you to the testing facility through large green stickers. It’s a 3 min ride away from the airport and the shuttle will take you back also.
